Actias luna Family: Saturniidae Also known as the giant silkworm moth.
I know i am going to get asked this, so i will answer it here. Why does she have four arms? Two reasons. One, i felt that i owed a favour to someone, even though they did not ask for it. So i told them i would paint whatever they wanted. All they asked for was something with multiple appendages, something different from my normal comfort zone. The other reason is that when i started painting the luna moth, she just sort of grew four arms, and it made sense to me that she would have six appendages...because insects have six. Well, at least it makes sense to me ^^
What doesn't make sense to me is that i started this one year ago. I took many long breaks. Re-painted basically everything several times. Moved the arms around, repainted her dress, repainted her head twice, repainted the background twice, cropped it differently, etc. I learned a lot, but it was a frustrating process.
So, i just want to thank everyone for the support you have given me, it is definitely an inspiration for me to keep going, even when i feel like quitting. A specific thank you to ~tlagrange and `frail for their support and advice on this particular painting.
Definately different than the norm of what we all usually portray a fairy to look like. This is so very wonderful. I love everything about it. You just might have started a new species of fairies!....haha!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
